Seasons of the Self: A Year-End Elemental Retreat with Kim & York
Seasons of the Self is a day-long retreat inspired by the nourishing cycle of the Five Elements in Chinese Metaphysics. Rooted in ancient wisdom and guided by embodied practices, this retreat is designed to help you reconnect with your inner landscape through the lens of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.
Each element mirrors a facet of your being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, and reveals a unique rhythm within you. Through mindful movement, self-inquiry, and reflection, we explore how these elemental energies live in our natal charts and influence our personal practices.
Together, we will gently move through each phase of the cycle:
Wood – Hatha Yoga Practice
Awaken the energy of growth and possibility. Connect with the clarity of vision and purposeful movement through a grounding hatha session that channels Wood’s expansive quality.
Fire – BaZi Talk & Elemental Understanding
Explore the dynamic dance of Yin & Yang, and how the Five Elements shape your personal BaZi (birth chart). Discover the elemental energies that resonate most deeply with you, and how to nourish them.
Earth – Mindful Lunch & Walking Meditation
Root into the steady rhythm of the Earth element through grounding, embodied practices. We’ll share a light, thoughtfully prepared lunch - catered in part by a community-based kitchen supporting meaningful local initiatives, as an invitation to slow down, savour each bite, and connect with care and intention. A walking meditation practice will follow, deepening your connection to the nourishment, stillness, and quiet wisdom of the Earth.
Metal – Reflective Art Journalling
Tune in to the energy of letting go and inner refinement. A guided art journalling process will support quiet contemplation, helping you give form to your insights, intentions, and inner truths. The session culminates in a one-of-a-kind piece of art to take home — a meaningful keepsake and visual representation of your inner clarity for the year ahead.
Water – Yin Yoga Practice
Close the day in softness and surrender. Water invites deep rest, reflection, and inner flow. A nourishing yin session with sound healing will help restore your energy and honour the wisdom of the year that was.
Throughout the retreat, you’ll be gently supported to work with the elements that resonate most with your unique constitution. Whether you’re seeking balance, inspiration, or clarity, this retreat offers a safe space to realign with your inner rhythm as the year turns.
No prior experience required. Just bring your curiosity, openness, and willingness to explore.
What to Bring:
• Your birth details (date, month, year, hour) for BaZi insights
• A journal/sketchbook, and any favourite pens, pencils, or paints for art journalling – we’ll also provide a selection of basic materials
• Comfortable clothing for yoga and walking outdoors (weather permitting)
• A shawl or light jacket for warmth during stiller moments
• A water bottle – and an open heart

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
MBSR is an evidence-based programme developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Created to support patients coping with chronic pain and illness, MBSR is practised all over the world and in Singapore to help people from all walks of life manage stress and enhance well-being. Grounded in mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, and self-inquiry, the programme offers practical tools to cultivate greater awareness and resilience.
Certification for this course is a prerequisite for MBSR Teacher Training Intensive Programme.

BaZi (八字, "Eight Characters") is a form of Chinese Metaphysics, that shows a map of your innate energy, revealing how the Five Elements and Yin-Yang forces shape your personality, relationships, and life path. By understanding these principles, you can empower yourself with a basic understanding of BaZi principles so you can start seeing patterns in your own life and others.
